What’s available at the lodge

Timber Trail Lodge welcomes brevet cyclists, TA walkers, hikers and independent adventurers travelling through Pureora Forest.

Located at Piropiro, near the middle of the Timber Trail, the lodge is a useful stop for trail users needing food, filtered water, accommodation, hot showers, drying facilities, luggage transfers, limited supplies or last-minute support.

Most days, we serve pizza and refreshments between 1 pm and 5 pm for trail users passing through. Adventurers are welcome to come up to the lodge and refill water bottles with our filtered water.

For overnight guests, the lodge offers comfortable accommodation, hearty food, breakfast, packed lunches, hot showers, a drying room, guest lounge and a warm place to rest before continuing.

We also offer luggage transfers and carry a limited range of basic supplies and selected bike spares, such as tubes. Availability may vary, so please plan ahead and carry the essentials you need for the day.

Special last-minute accommodation rates may be available for brevet cyclists, TA walkers and independent trail users, subject to availability on the day.

The Timber Trail is remote, with limited services, limited vehicle access and limited mobile coverage. Please come prepared with suitable clothing, food, water, wet-weather gear and a clear plan.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Timber Trail Lodge. The lodge is completely off the grid while still being modern, comfortable and welcoming. Great weekend doing the Timber Trail, 2 nights at the Timber Trail Lodge worked perfectly. Fantastic local knowledge and stories from Rob in the shuttle, Kia Ora Rob! Accommodation is superb, clean and comfortable rooms, great food after a good days MTB riding and a beer or 2 from the bar. Locally owned and operated with great stewardship of local environment and land. Thoroughly recommended!

Loved this place. Family of 6 adults had a ball. Everything is well organised. Rooms excellent, great food.and a pizza to keep you going after your first days riding. You do need to be fit enough to get there! Go for the full package. It’s worth it.
