New Zealand’s unique off-grid adventure lodge, deep in Pureora Forest.
Timber Trail Lodge sits near the midpoint of the Timber Trail, surrounded by ancient native forest and far from the distractions of everyday life.
After a day exploring the trail, arrive to a hot shower, comfortable accommodation, hearty food and a relaxed evening in the forest. Whether you are riding, walking, running or simply escaping into nature, the Lodge offers an experience found nowhere else in New Zealand.

Great food to fuel your adventure
Arrive back from the trail to complimentary pizza and a cold drink from the bar. Dinner is served family-style at large communal tables, bringing guests together to share the day’s stories.
In the morning, enjoy a generous breakfast with cooked and continental options, locally roasted coffee and a packed lunch for the journey ahead.
Our licensed bar offers New Zealand wine and craft beer, and our kitchen uses fresh, local ingredients wherever possible. Dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice.
All meals are included in your room rate.
Accommodation
Your little piece of paradise
Our 20 comfortable rooms can accommodate up to 46 guests, with double, twin and triple configurations available.
Choose from ensuite rooms with private bathrooms or standard rooms with shared facilities. All rooms are double glazed, carpeted and heated, with generous king beds or king singles.
Some rooms open onto the shared deck, offering peaceful views into the surrounding native forest.
Room rates include dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch for the following day.

Exploring the forest
Pureora Forest offers much more than the Timber Trail.
Use the Lodge as a base to explore walking tracks, historic sites, forest roads and some of the most significant native forest in the central North Island. From short walks and quiet viewpoints to longer adventures, there is plenty to discover throughout the wider forest park.
Whether you are staying another night or extending your journey, Pureora offers many ways to explore beyond the trail.

- Bike wash down area
- Bike storage (covered and uncovered)
- Bike service stand and tools, including hand pump
- Drying room and storage crates for wet, muddy shoes & gear. NB. We do not have laundry facilities.
- E-bike charging stations
- Filtered water refill station
- Small provisions store with sunscreen, snacks, and limited bike parts
- First aid kits, Personal Locator Beacon (PLB for hire), and Epi-pen, AED on site
- We have Wifi and a phone that can be used in emergencies.
