Comments from our guests:

We thought the Timber Trail Lodge was fantastic.  Nothing was too difficult for the new managers Pia and Corey.  The food was amazing.  Sitting outside in the sun on the beanbags watching the sun go down with a glass or two of wine set the scene!!  The lodge is beautifully set to get maximum sun.

We felt very lucky to able to stay in such a lovely place.

Everything including the hosts right down to the gorgeous cushions on the beds and chairs was authentic. The view of the bush was spectacular from all the rooms and the very generous deck area meant you could enjoy it that much more, sitting on a bean bag enjoying the last bit of sun after a day biking with a cold beer or cup of tea.

The long table that we all sat at had been made locally, the retro “Crown Lynn” crockery and amazing lampshades and the wonderful murals all created the most relaxing atmosphere that was totally “NZ” . Yet it also has a very modern youthful feel not only because of Clem and Nicola who were our outstanding hosts and lovely couple) but also the wonderful coffee that we had each morning accompanied by delicious breakfasts The GF options, (husband is coeliac) were delicious he said and everything had been baked on site- yummy ginger slice and GF chocolate chippies and brownie.

We had the package deal (2 nights and shuttles) which made things really easy and efficient. We were transported by Paul and Marie (local operators) extremely friendly and knowledgeable.

We got extra getting snippets of extra information from these two – such as climbing to the top of Mt Pureora which gave us the most magnificent 360 degrees views.

Highly recommend going mid week as less people around, we stayed Thursday Friday night.

This lodge and Clem and Nicola really are worth a stay. We will definiitely be recommending it to others.

12 of us checked in after our first day on the Timber Trail. The hosts were there to meet our muddy soles and were quick to offer their own gumboots as we sorted our wet and muddy gear. The showers were hot and the beds were super comfy. The best bit was lounging for the afternoon / evening by the fire with a well stocked bar and continue supply of delicious food. The Timber Trail Lodge have set the bar high for this style of accommodation. 4/5 stars as there are a few things to iron out like a drying room but given it’s only been open for a month, it’s a pretty smooth operation. Linda, TaurangWe did the full package when we stayed at the Timber Trail Lodge, 2 nights, food and shuttles. The hosts Nicola, Clement and Bruce where so welcoming and had it all completely organised for us, all we had to do was ride and enjoy the stunning surroundings. The Lodge was really clean and warm, large comfortable beds opening out on to a sunny deck with stunning bush views. The food was amazing and plenty of it. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly. We didn’t want to leave. Also thanks to our lovely shuttle driver from Pa Harakeke Shuttles, she was wonderful. Donna, Tauranga

The hosts were excellent, the meals were fantastic and lodge very inviting and cosy with fireplace and bean bags. The expansive deck would be great on a sunny day. The dorm room was spacious and beds were very comfortable. The Easter eggs left in our room was a lovely touch :-). Would definitely recommend to others. Jenny, Auckland

Relaxing, great place to enjoy company of friends. Hosts were wonderful. Did not ride the trails this time, but we will be back. Morning sounds from local bird life were amazing. Can do with some better signposting to the lodge. Ulrich

We had a group of 10 people do the Timber trail over the 2 days. We only stayed the 1 night in the middle at the lodge but wish we had stayed 2 nights!! Was amazing to get to the 39km marker look up and see the lodge. Staff and facilities are brilliant and that lovely large deck that you can sit out on under blankets and watch the sun set with a glass or two of wine is one of the best ways to unwind after a day in the saddle. The pizza snacks late afternoon, dinner and breakfast were all wonderfully cooked and devoured by the group. Staff were great and very accommodating. We will be recommending it onto other people we know and if we do the ride again there will be no question as to where we will be staying. Thanks. Julia

We can’t speak highly enough of this place. Such an awesome stopover on The Timber Trail. We were greeted by friendly staff and freshly made pizza, and other high quality snacks and drinks. The whole place is very tastefully furnished and decorated. The food was amazing. I would do the Timber Trail again just to be able to spend another night in the wilderness in that lodge! Lorraine

Our group drove up from Wgtn arriving late on a Friday night at the TT Lodge. brand new, awesome welcome, beautiful dinner, lovely beds , hot showers etc.. then next morning off on our 1st day of the TT after yummy breakie laid on by our wonderful hosts. Stunning weather for this lovely ride and came back in time to sit out on deck in gorgeous sun, with a beer , then a walk on the new walking trail they’ve set up that takes you to some really huge old Rata trees.. well worth the walk.. another yummy dinner, and off to bed b4 our 2nd day on the TT..again gorgeous weather.. desptie HUGE rain unusual to this region the week before (cyclone material), the track was very rideable – as very porous surface.. then great timed pickup at finish by Paul to take us back to the TT Lodge for shower, tidyup and then drive hom.. will definitely be back.. its a fantastic addition to this location… allowing you to enjoy 2 x40km rides without having to race thru parts to ensure get all done in one day.. this is WAY nicer way to do it.. thanks Bruce for setting it up…haven’t stopped telling other keen mtnbikers about it since got back 🙂 Ruth, Wellington

Very much enjoyed our stay at the new lodge. Great food, service, comfortable beds and amenities. Relaxing in a bean bag on the sunny deck with a beer was a great way to end the first day’s riding. Dining with other guests at the rewarewa tables was a great way to meet and exchange stories. Simon, Lower Hutt

Can’t speak highly enough of the lodge. I did the ultimate package, staying 2 nights with all meals and shuttles included. The facilities and the hosts just make this the must stay place for anyone riding the Timber Trail. The food was excellent quality and plenty of it after a hard days cycling. You really are made to feel welcome and everything possible is done to make your stay a pleasure. David, Matamata

We loved our 2 night stay at the beautiful new lodge while cycling the Timber Trail. Wonderful friendly hosts, delicious food, very comfortable beds and definitely appreciated being able to have hot showers after a rainy, muddy day cycling (not to mention a glass of wine by the fire as well). Highly recommended! Irene
